About 3000 cattle will headline a special store sale at the Victorian Livestock Exchange at Pakenham in mid-January, including several drafts of autumn 2021-drop calves.
Unlike other selling facilities in Victoria, the VLE will host a store sale featuring vendor-bred weaner and grown cattle.

The decision to combine the two categories is a combination of influencing factors including high cattle prices, good seasonal conditions and demand by northern restockers and volume buyers.

Delaney Livestock & Property director Anthony Delaney said the January 13 sale would offer well-bred weaner cattle which would line up well against other consignments across the state.
"A big decision vendors have had is whether to sell in December or January, but certainly where we are in the Yarra Valley and West Gippsland, people are keen to carry them through until January," he said.
"Season-wise we've had a late spring, it was a long winter and the calves may have had a bit of a check with that but now the quality of these cattle is very promising."
The sale will feature a draft of 200 Charolais/Angus-cross mixed-sex calves, eight and nine months, offered by Yarra Valley monastery Tarrawarra Abbey, Yarra Glen.
The monastery has bred cattle since the 1950s and its consignment of weaners has become a regular staple at the January sale.
Peter and Lorraine Burgi, Gruyere, will sell 100 Angus/Charolais-cross and Angus mixed-sex calves, January/March 2021-drop, while the Derix family, Tinamba, will sell 72 Angus/Charolais calves aged 10 months.
The Seebeck family, Shady Creek, will sell a consignment of Limousin-cross calves, eight and nine months.
In the Angus section, Curra Falls, Carraujung, will offer 150 mixed-sex Angus calves, while the Doake family, Coldstream, will sell 75 Angus mixed-sex weaners, with both drafts aged eight and nine months.
Mayneline Angus, Whittlesea, will offer 100 Angus mixed-sex weaners, nine and 10 months, while Gisborne Park, Gisborne, will sell 90 mixed-sex Angus weaners.
Yarramunda, Coldstream, will sell 50 mixed-sex Angus calves of the same age, as will Merristock Pasotral, Woodstock, with 80 mixed-sex weaners.
In the Hereford draft, the Glen Brothers, Guildford, will sell 40 steers, while St Katherines Pty Ltd, Giffard, will offer 55 Hereford steers.
Bergamin Pastoral Company, Willow Grove, will sell its second draft of 80 Angus, Hereford and Black Baldy steers.
Alex Scott & Staff Pakenham livestock manager David Setches said more consignments of autumn 2021-drop calves would follow after the January 13 sale.
"It just goes to show you how good some of the country is still in terms of feed," Mr Setches said.

"Some of these calves could be 40 kilograms heavier than what they normally would be, given they've been in the paddock for almost two months longer than what they normally would be."
