Yea saleyards will be brimming with cattle as local producers capitilise on a record-hot market in January.
Livestock agents will hold two sales, with Nutrien Ag Solutions' Upper Goulburn River weaner sale on Tuesday, January 11, with an anticipated 3000-head yarding, and Elders' 35th annual Blue Ribbon weaner sale to be held on Friday, January 14, with more than 4000 booked for sale.
"The amount of money that will change hands will be unheard of," Nutrien Yea manager Chris Pollard said.
The Elders Yea team had more than 4000 head of February/March-drop weaners booked for the sale, with the top calves expected to be 440 kilograms, and few below 300kg.
With 98 per cent of the yarding weaned, buyers were expected from the northern states and South Australia.
