The winner of ACM's Sire Shootout competition has sold for $23,000 at this year's Rockhampon Brangus Sale on Tuesday.

Barronessa Holloway (P) (AI) (ET) was named winner of ACM's Sire Shootout for 2021, which included more than 100 bulls from Australia's leading studs.

Originally set for private sale, growing interest from prospective buyers had him destined to go under the hammer at Rockhampton, as lot 201.

The 27-month-old Ultrablack bull is a son of the $400,000 SAV International out of Telpara Hills Miss Csonka and was purchased by NE Hack of Gympie.

Tipping the scales at 1102 kilograms, the sire prospect recorded an eye muscle area of 140 square centimetres, 44cm for scrotal measurement and boasted fat scans at the rump and rib of 26mm and 20mm respectively, with an intramuscular fat of 7.2pc.

SIRE APPEAL: The 27-month-old Ultrablack bull was registered to the Brangus society and was a son of the $400,000 SAV International out of Telpara Hills Miss Csonka.

Hollloway was entered by the Strazzeri family - Joe and Sharon, their son Shane and other son Jeff and his wife Jaqueline.

The family breed Charolais, Charbray, Brangus and Ultrablack cattle for seedstock purposes.

The sale was the family's second time selling at Rockhampton, as their location on the Atherton Tablelands makes running an annual bull sale too difficult.
