*56 of 60 rams sold to $5750 (twice), av $2267
KAMAROOKA Park Poll Merino stud's principal was overwhelmed with the result of his fifth annual ram sale which grossed more than $127,000.
Erroll Hay said the sale was a great result with buyers coming from a wide area including the north-east, the Goulburn Valley, the western district and Tasmania.
Mr Hay said it was pleasing there were also three or four new clients who purchased.
He presented a $500 credit voucher to long-time loyal client Rob McKay, Drummartin, who had bought Kamarooka Park rams for 30 years.
Mr McKay said the rams bred a good type of sheep that suited his Merino operation.
Mr Hay said there was a good crowd for the offering that was up from the 43 auctioned in 2020.
He said the lift in the catalogue was to give more clients the chance to fill their requirements.
While the average was slightly down on 2020, the top price of $5750 which was recorded twice, was $1500 up on 2020.
He said clients were chasing wool and some were also looking for eye muscle and fat.
"I'm breeding wool sheep and most people were chasing Banavie, Pastora, White River and Junior genetics," he said.
