The Australian Livestock and Property Agents Association has announced the finalists for the 2021 Victoria Young Auctioneers Competition.
A selection event was held last week which saw 14 budding auctioneers compete for 10 places in the final.
Participants spent two days at the ALPA auctioneers school in Echuca, where they were coached by industry professionals and speech therapists.
They were then required to conduct a mock auction and were scored on their technique.
This year's auctioneers heading to the final are:
- Ryan Bajada, Elders Pakenham
- Ned Balharrie, Nutrien Ballarat
- Jacob Brennan, Mulchay Nelson Livestock Tatura
- Alister Bright, Nutrien Ararat
- Ryan Carpenter, Nutrien Ballarat
- Joshua Chiavaroli, Elders Korumburra
- Harry Cozens, Kerr & Co Hamilton
- Jack Ginnane, Nutrien Leongatha
- Joshua McDonald, Nutrien Warrnambool
- Tom O'Halloran, Alex Scott & Staff Korumburra
Last year's competition was delayed due to the pandemic and was instead held earlier this year, with finalists selected from video footage rather than at a selection school.
The 2020 winner, Jack Ginnane, will again contest the title.
The state final will be held in September.
