Heavy steers at Wodonga sell to $2470 for two Angus weighing 561kg

Also of note was the number of heavy yearling steers, those over 400kg, and eagerly sought by feedlots.

Sales of steers 300-400kg ranged from $1460 (304kg) to $1950 (396kg); while those over 400kg sold from $1680 (402kg) to $2470 (561kg).

Steers under 300kg sold from $1250 (218kg) to $1690 (298kg).

Heifers weighing 300-400kg sold from $1410 (358kg) to $1840 (398kg); while those over 400kg sold from $1470 (460kg) to $1940 (467kg).

Heifers under 300kg sold from $1440 (298kg) to $1680 (291kg).

There was limited numbers of breeders penned and PTIC cows sold to $1960; while cows with calves sold to $3580.

Some representative sales of steers included 16 Reiland-blood Angus weighing 359kg sold by Andrew and Maria Palmer, Sandy Creek, Victoria, for $1900; eight Herefords, weighing 399kg sold by Nixon Partners, Savernake, for $1925 and 18 Charolais weighing 378kg sold by PJ and SL Wallis, Walbundrie, for $1940.

Sales of steers under 300kg included ten Herefords weighing 298kg sold by JM and RG Smith, Tocumwal, for $1690: five Limousin weighing 291kg sold by B and V Ivone, Buffalo Creek, Vic., sold for $1690 and 31 Charolais weighing 258kg sold by CM Pastoral, Moama, for $1570.

Sales of steers over 400kg included 12 Charolais weighing 446kg sold by AH Turnbull, Tallangatta South, Vic., for $2200; two Angus weighing 482kg sold by Yackandandah Pastoral, Yackandandah, Vic., for $2290 and three Limousin weighing 433kg sold by JS and DL Hadley, Kiewa, Vic., for $2140.

Sales of heifers in the 300-400kg range included 16 Angus, weighing 321kg sold by P and G Lavis Pty Ltd, Bungowannah, for $1760; 13 Angus weighing 335kg sold by Ross Goyen, Kergunyah, Vic., for $1780 and 14 Limousin sold by Land P Bauer, Tocumwal, for $1650.

Those under 300kg included 16 Limousin weighing 273kg sold by Nendy Enterprises, Bonegilla, Vic., for $1625 and 23 Angus weighing 291kg sold by Woolamia Pastoral Co Pty Ltd, Finley, for $1680.

Heavy heifers over 400kg sold for $1940 when Ross Goyen, Kergunyah, offered three Jarobee-bloos Angus and Maronoa Pastoral Co, Tallangatta, Vic., sold two Angus cross weighing 420kg for $1640.

Three Angus heifers PTIC to Glentrevor Poll Hereford bulls and weighing 571kg sold for $1960 on account J Vogel and SL Robinson, Finley.

Sales of cows with calves included five Angus, NSM and offered by Wattledale Pastoral Co., Staghorn Flat, for $3580 and ten mixed age Mawarra-blood Herefords NSM sold by Gundabooka Pastoral, Everton, Vic., for $2820.

The sale was conducted by Elders and Paull and Scollard Nutrien, Wodonga.
