Established in 1910, in Jandowae, in the Western Downs region of Queensland, the Morrissey & Co brand is synonymous with cattle equipment innovation and quality workmanship.

The fifth generation of the Morrissey family now works for the business, with Sean and Chris Morrissey overseeing all operations, with their sons John and Tom.

Mrs Morrissey said the Morrissey Calf Branding Cradle is what the business is best known for.

"It was invented by Sean's father, John, close to 70 years ago. Various versions of the cradle are available including standard, heavy duty, a larger weaner size, and two sizes in the hydraulic branding cradle," she said.

Morrissey & Co also produce a range of straight and curved branding races, weigh boxes, freeze and paint brands, crow bars and agents for earmarking pliers.

"Stainless steel branding irons are our speciality, they're hand forged and open in the back to minimise blotching, our brands are crafted from 304 grade stainless steel and come with a 760mm long handle.

"Over the years we've forged brands for Australian icon RM Williams, American, Winthrop Rockefeller, many of the larger pastoral companies such as Stanbroke, AA Company, S Kidman & Co, Hancock Prospecting, and Consolidated Pastoral, and of course for everyday Australian cattle producers."

"We're proud to be family-owned Australian business, which has stood the test of time."

Mrs Morrissey said their cattle handling equipment is sold all over Australia, and they've expanded into some international sales as well.

"We're currently taking part in the Shell QGC Emerging Exporters Program run by Toowoomba and Surat Basin Enterprise (TSBE). This program is providing us with an insight to see if exporting is something that fits into our business projection."

The Morrisseys are looking forward to exhibiting at Beef Australia in May.

"Along with many of the other agricultural field days, Beef gives us an opportunity to speak with existing and prospective customers. We're always willing to improve our products by listening to our customers feedback, which is why meeting face to face with them at events, like Beef, is invaluable."

At Beef, Morrissey & Co will be displaying the different variations of their branding cradles, including the hydraulic cradle, calf races and weigh box.

"This year we'll also be exhibiting at the Rotary FNQ Field Days in Mareeba, CRT FarmFest in Toowoomba, Ag-Grow in Emerald, AgQuip in Gunnedah and Westech in Barcaldine."

Mrs Morrissey said the family are fortunate to live in Jandowae.

"We have 15 staff who live locally and we're proud supporters of many local events, rodeos, campdrafts, the ICPA and further abroad throughout Queensland and the Northern Territory."
