A small, but quality, yarding, attracted interest from local restockers, processors and a feedlot, at Kyneton's monthly store cattle sale.
Brendan Coxon, Elders, said cattle went to Gippsland, the north-east and Ballarat, while there was also solid processor inquiry.
Agents yarded about 450 head of cattle.
"It is starting to tighten up a bit, but the job is not letting go - it's still maintaining its level," Mr Coxon.
"There weren't big numbers, but the quality was there."
Kieran McGrath, McGrath Rodwells, said it was a very good yarding, which met with solid competition.
"There was interest from the Goulburn Valley, plus a feedlot in the Riverina area, as well as Ballarat, and local competition," Mr McGrath said.
"The price range was from $1000 to $2000 for your steers and heifers, little steers of 120kg made $1100."
Prices were up with other recent sales.
"There is no sense of it easing at all," Mr McGrath said.
Pyalong bullock fattener John Dynan was a volume buyer, picking up 51 head of cattle, at an average of $1877.
