Agents reported mixed quality but prices remained strong at the Victorian Livestock Exchange at Leongatha today.
Around 2800 head were yarded with light steers reaching 571 cents per kilogram.
Nutrien livestock manager Brian McCormack said quality steers were rewarded.
"Our steer run was very strong, weights were good once again and cattle sold accordingly," he said.
"The good quality cattle sold very, very well."
Bidding started with three steers from Farley Excavations, Nyora, weighing 536kg that sold for 384c/kg or $2060 a head.
M Jackson, Hallston, sold 16 at 442kg for 445c/kg or $1970 and a second pen of 12 weighing 419kg for 431c/kg or $1810.
Mabu Pty Ltd, Mirboo, sold three weighing 463kg for 442c/kg or $2050 and a pen of six weighing 365kg for 479c/kg or $1750.
Bass Coast Farm, Woolamai, sold 10 at 360kg for 480c/kg or $1730 while R & S Love, Rosedale, sold 17 at 327kg for 492c/kg or $1610.
Mr McCormack said feedlotter competition was strong for the heavier cattle, while graziers were keen on steers weighing between 340 and 400kg.
Feature lines included DJ & KM Kuch, Darriman, who sold four pens including 16 at 519kg for 447c/kg or $2320 and 14 at 506kg for 450c/kg or $2280.
C Czempinski, Tyers, sold 18 weighing 527kg for 417c/kg or $2200 and a pen of 17 at 489kg for 451c/kg or $2210.
Von Pace, Giffard, had six pens, including 24 weighing 494kg for 445c/kg or $2200 and 15 at 509kg for 442c/kg or $2250.
Elm Valley, Walkerville, sold 17 weighing 462kg for 474c/kg or $2190 and a pen of 13 at 442kg for 488c/kg or $2160.
Ross Castello Family Trust sold 20 at 408kg for 477c/kg or $1950 while AW & CM O'Mara sold 13 weighing 389kg for 503c/kg or $1960.
The same vendor also sold 15 at 357kg for 535c/kg or $1910.
Elders livestock agent Rohan McCrae said overall the quality was mixed but good cattle still fetched decent prices.
"The good cattle sold really well, there was good feedlot competition," he said.
"There was 600kg steers down to Friesian bucket calves - there was something for everyone.
"It was in line with our sale a fortnight ago, quality on quality."
Lighter steers also sold well, with N & B Wynne, Maffra, sold 21 weighing 266kg for 571c/kg or $1520.
R Wight & Sons sold 25 weighing 350kg for 525c/kg or $1840 and a pen of 24 weighing 324kg for 549c/kg or $1780.
The same vendor sold another 20 weighing 286kg for 562c/kg or $1610 and five at 326kg for 509c/kg or $1660.
MM & BD Walpole sold 10 weighing 287kg for 560c/kg or $1610.

B & L Barrett, Traralgon, had several pens in a dispersal sale, including nine Angus heifers and calves for $3280 and 13 for $2780.
The same vendor also sold 11 pregnancy tested in calf for $2500 and eight PTIC for $2400.
Nalajule Nominees, Mardan, sold nine PTIC for $2920 and another nine PTIC for $2850.
