When Ana Pimenta visited Australia on a working visa from Portugal, it was only for a six-month stay.
But fast-forward 13 years and the mother of two is in her element on her 800-hectare King Island, Tas, property which she runs with her husband Tom Perry.
Together they run 2000 head and 750 mainly Angus breeders.
"My background was in animal production but when I came to Australia I had no idea I'd end up raising a family here," Ms Pimenta said.
Trading as Gado Management, the family also run Meat Your Beef - a side business which gives visitors farm tours and paddock-to-plate experiences, showcasing their beef and educating the community about farming.
"Some of our country isn't great because of the sandy soils but at the same time we have some very productive land which allows us to increase our carrying capacity," she said.
The couple share two children Alice, 8, and Lucas, 6, and said the seasonal conditions were the best they had seen in their 12 years.
