A great season has seen prices for quality females jump at Camperdown.

This year's annual Camperdown F1 female sale saw a massive jump in prices on 2020, with cows and calves going for as much as $3600 a unit.

Agents yarded about 1100 head of cattle.


Last year, pregnancy-tested in-calf heifers sold to $2080 a head, with cow and calf units to $2050.

Steve Lambert, Charles Stewart & Co, said it was a strong market right through.

"Last year it was tough going, whereas this year, it's been so good for everyone," Mr Lambert said.

"There were some excellent lines and they sold very, very well."

Corey Baulch, Elders, said Everitt, Seeley and Bennetts, Gippsland, and Corcoran Parker, Wodonga, were among the active buyers.


"A lot of local buyers were there," Mr Baulch said.

"The top cows and calves made $3600, the best springers made $3000.


"The quality was very, very good this year, obviously reflecting the season."

Shelby Howard, Charles Stewart Dove, said heifers, turned out to join later, made anywhere between $1400-$1550.

"There were not a lot of those small, bucket-reared calves we saw in previous years, all the cattle had a bit of weight about them," Mr Howard said.

GS & MY Sutherland sold 12 head of 2.5-year-old Angus/Friesian-cross heifers, PTIC to a Mandayen stud Limousin bull, to commence calving on February 1, for $3000.

Parook Partners sold 13 Angus/Friesian-cross heifers, 2.5-years-old, PTIC to a Mandayen bull, for $2560.

Wondaree sold 10 Angus/Friesian-cross heifers, 2 to 2.5-years-old, PTIC to a Limousin bull, for $2280.

McNamara Dairies sold 10 Angus/Friesian-cross heifers, 2 to 2.5-years old, PTIC to a Limousin bull, for $2200.

C C & D Baxter sold seven Angus/Friesian-cross heifers, 2.5-years-old, PTIC to a Limousin bull, for $3000.

Mindarra Park sold 12 Angus/Friesian-cross heifers, 2.5-years-old, PTIC to pure French Limousin bulls, for $3000.

R M Alexander sold nine Angus/Friesian-cross heifers, 2-years-old, for $2650.

B W & K M Boyd sold five Hereford/Friesian-cross heifers, 17-18 months old, 482kg, for $1660, or 344 cents a kilogram.

Begley and Stevens sold 14 Hereford/Friesian-cross heifers, 427kg, 15-months-old, for $1770 or 414c/kg.

A & L Whiting sold seven Murray Grey/Friesian-cross heifers, 234kg, 10-months-old, for $1000 or 427c/kg.

Mindarra Park sold 10x10 Angus/Friesian-cross heifers, 2.5-years-old, with November-born Limousin CAF, for $3600.


Genrick Park sold 12x12 Hereford/Friesian-cross heifers, with November/December Limousin CAF, for $3400.

C F & D Monaco sold five bucket-reared Angus/Friesian-cross heifers, 19-20-months-old, for $1740

R & S Horspole sold 13 Claremont-blood Angus/Friesian-cross heifers, 18-19-months-old, for $1720.

A & K Duynhoven sold 18 Angus/Friesian-cross heifers, 10-months-old, 250kg, for, $1240 or 496c/kg.
