There's been another uptick in the the availability of high-reliability water shares for irrigators on the Murray system.
The latest seasonal determination has seen HRWS increase from 83 per cent HRWS to 88 per cent. Seasonal determinations in the Goulburn, Campaspe and Loddon systems remain at 100pc HRWS.
The Broken and Bullarook systems are unchanged at 100pc HRWS and low-reliability water shares.
Northern Victoria Resource manager Mark Bailey said rain in early December provided some resource improvement in the Murray system.
"Flows into the Murray system were higher than our estimates due to rain," Dr Bailey said. "River operating losses were lower than those assumed in November and this also contributed to the improvements."
Dr Bailey said the latest Bureau of Meteorology seasonal outlook mostly favours above-average rainfall across the catchment areas for the three month period from January to March.
"The BoM says La Nina conditions will likely persist until at least January 2021,' he said.
"A La Nina may support above average rainfall across eastern Australia during summer."
"The volumes are likely to be lower in summer compared to the historical peaks of winter and spring, but the extra resource would be welcome."
