Vendors at the Ballarat first-cross ewe sale went home content as 1.5 year old ewes made a top of $430 and lambs to $292.
The yarding of just over 17,000 mostly annual drafts, comprised 13,000 ewes 1.5 years old and the balance lambs and mature aged breeders.
TB White & Sons auctioneer Tom Madden, said the tops were vendor bred local ewes.
He said there was "a fair wack of ewes that made over $400, which was pleasing to see".
Fifteen pens sold for more than $400 with strong support from buyers looking for lines of renowned lines of well bred ewes.
There was strong local support throughout the sale.
"This is our supermarket. A lot of those ewes will go straight to the paddock to be joined immediately," Mr Madden said.
Other buying support came from western districts, Gippsland and Narracorte, South Australia.
Nutrien Ag Solutions livestock manager, Xavier Shanahan, Ballarat, said the ewe lambs were mostly "grower lambs" for a late joining or to go back to the paddock to put weight on before joining.
Mr Shanahan said a lot of buyers came with $370 to $380 plus for the 1.5 year old ewes.
John and Carolyn Elder, Hexham, who have been selling at the sale for more than 40 years, topped the sale with a line of 130 first-cross ewes, September 2019-drop, October shorn.
Pride of place as the first pen was Jacquie and Colin Smith, Skipton, Carranballac, with their top line of 112 making $425. The lead pen were June/July 2019 drop, November shorn, while a second line of 130 sold for $410.
Regular sellers at this sale Rod and Jodie Seers, Clearview Partners, Glengower, consigned a draft of April/May 2019 drop ewes, October shorn, with the lead pen of 222 selling for $420, and a second ilne of 40 at $408.
A pen of 95 ewes account White sold for $414 while L & A Banks sold 175 ewes, June 2019-drop, September shorn for $412.
Murray Cook, trading as JW Cook & Son, Clunes, sold 103 ewes, April 2019 drop, October shorn, that made $408.
Gill Pastoral sold a line of 194 ewes that made $406.
A large draft of ewes account Ham & Nield came forward with the lead pen of 298 selling for $406. A second line of 224 sold for $374 and a third cut of 96 made $290.
The Rural Property Trust, Evansford, sold 82 May 2019 drop, November shorn for $404.
Other lines included 126 sold account BA Herbertson, May/June 2019 drop, that sold for $402.
Also making $402 was a pen of 91 sold account BJE Ag. The pen were July/August 2019 drop, October shorn. A second pen of 172 made $388.
KD & G Fagg, Mt Mercer, sold a line of 125, June 2019 drop, October shorn, that made $400, and a second draft of 166 that made $376.
A pen of May 2019-drop ewes, November shorn, that produced lambs when lambs themselves, sold account K Impey for $400
Bendemeer House sold 66 at $398, while a large draft of 380 sold account Grigg Farming, sold for $394.
A pen of 104 sold account HR Clarke made $392 as did a pen of 135 sold account G & M Buttler.
Tops of the ewe lambs portion of the yarding was sold account MV & PJ Smith, May 2020 drop, October shorn, that made $292 for 150 tops and $290 for a second line.
A pen of 239 ewe lambs, April/May 2020 drop, October shorn, sold account A & D Freeman and made $284.
Selling for the same money was a line of 77, September shorn, that were sold account B Dodd.
Other lines of lambs included a two pens account W & W Coutts, with 75 selling for $272 and 22 at $210.
M & A Hull, Clunes, sold two pens of lambs with 115 making $270 and the second draft o 195 making $264.
Vivien Grain sold a pen 68 ewe lambs hat made $279.
Stoney Rises Estate sold a draft of ewes 5.5 years old, October shorn, that reared 142 per cent of lambs, with the first pen of 231 making $192 and a second line of 206 that also made $192.
