White Suffolk rams sold to $2500 in a complete clearance at the 15th annual Westleigh sale of Ian and Denise and James Porter, Lake Wongan south of Beaufort.
Because of COVID-19 concerns, the offering of 102 rams was conducted online only via the AuctionsPlus platform with 'Helmsman' style bidding.
Stud principal Ian Porter said they held two inspection days prior to the sale which attracted good interest.
The top priced ram was lot four purchased as a stud sire by Hobson Farming, Banjanda, Waubra.
The top priced lot was a May 2019-drop ram sired by Premier 15P021 (Dynamo). The young ram had figures of 17.2 kilograms post weaning weight (PWWT), -0,6 post weaning fat depth (PFAT), 1 PWWT: 17.22, PFAT: -0.6 millimetres, a post weaning eye muscle depth of 1.5mm and Terminal Carcase Production (TCP) index of 142.5.
Ian and Sue Maconachie, Buangor, paid to $1750 for eight rams. The top ram was lot 15 that had figures of 16.1kg PWWT, -0.48mm PFAT, 1.2mm PEMD and 138 TPC.
Volume buyers included M & S Powell who bought four rams to a top of $1850 and averaged $1400. The top lot was lot 61, A September 2019-drop ram that had figures of 15.9kg PWWT, -0.6mm PFAT, 1.62mm PEMD and a TCP index of 138.5.
Lagoon Run, Cavendish, bought four rams to $1550 on two occasions and averaged $1325.
