Elizabeth Kelly has been named the recipient of the 2020 Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria's Schloarship for Emerging Leaders.
Ms Kelly grew up on her family's Barwidgee Angus stud at Caramut and is entering her second year of study at Marcus Oldham College after completing a Diploma of Agribusiness in 2019, finishing dux of her year.
The scholarship was eligible to all Marcus Oldham agribusiness students in farm management, agribusiness and equine studies, with a $5,000 study grant awarded to Ms Kelly to support her second year of education.
"I am absolutely thrilled to receive the [scholarship]," Ms Kelly said.
"My family has a long affiliation with the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria, and I look forward to learning as much as I can and representing the RASV to the best of my ability."
Ms Kelly credited the integrated learning, smaller class sizes and the focus on allowing students to 'understanding the why' as key elements to her success at Marcus Oldham.
"My studies have allowed me to have a more active contribution at home on the farm," she said.
"I love working with livestock and genetics and my studies have provided a well-rounded understanding of business management and accounting with skills I have begun to utilise on the farm."
Marcus Oldham College principal Dr Simon Livingstone thanked the RASV for its ongoing support of the scholarship which recognises students each year.
"As a college we are extremely proud and appreciative of the support we receive from industry to develop the next generation of leaders in the agricultural and equine fields," Dr Livingstone said.
RASV chief executive Brad Jenkins said he was pleased to maintain the close relationship with the college to recognise and reward future leaders.
"Elizabeth is an outstanding recipient of the 2020 RASV scholarship ... with a clear passion and enthusiasm for furthering herself and the Australian agricultural industry," Mr Jenkins said.
"I congratulate Elizabeth and extend my best wishes to her and all of the other candidates in their future studies."
