Terrick West Poll Merino rams sold to a top of $6500 and averaged $2395 at the stud's on-property sale Friday.
Both top price and average were slightly higher than the 2019 sale, in a tremendous result for Ross, Robyn and Claire McGauchie, Prairie.
The results were achieved on a clearance rate of 95 per cent, or 76 rams sold of 80 offered.
Stud principal Ross McGauchie said they were "very happy" with the result particularly considering the current coronavirus situation and restrictions.
"We had no idea what to expect going in to the sale. In the scheme of things we are very lucky," he said.
"Given everything it was a tremendous result."
He said some regular buyers from NSW and SA had not attended due to the virus situation.
"We're very happy with the depth of the rams and each year we are getting more depth and high quality rams further down the line," he said.
Nutrien Ag Solutions stud stock auctioneer Andrew Sloan said it was a successful with an excellent sale.
He said it was a big crowd with repeat clients in attendance.
The Grassy Creek Merino stud of Michael and Jane Corkhill, Boorowa, NSW, paid the top price of $6500 for lot 13 a 14-month-old AI bred ram by Wallaloo Park 93 and one of a twin that weighed 110 kilograms on August 4. The ram had an 18.7 micron fleece, 2.7 standard deviation (SD), 14.4 co-efficient of variation (CV) and comfort factor of 99.7 per cent (CF. It had an eye muscle depth (EMD) of 45 millimetres and fat depth of 7.5mm.
Second top was $4500 paid for lot four purchased by Mt Buangor Partners, Buangor. The ram was sired by a grandson of Coddington Poll 5034. It had figures of 20.5 micron, 3.0 SD, 14.6 CV, 99.5 CF and weighed 129kg (equal heaviest in the catalogue).
The same buyer paid $3250 for lot 35, a ram with 20.3 micron fleece, 3.0 SD, 14.8 CV, 99.5 CF and weighed 125kg.
Jullunder Farms, Wombelano, paid $4250 for lot 11, a ram by Wallaloo Park 93 with an 18.8 micron fleece, 3.0 SD, 16.0 CV, 99.5 CF and weighed 109kg. The same buyer paid $4000 for lot 28 with an 18.4 micron fleece, 2.4 SD, 13 CV and 99.9 CF.
Regular volume buyers included J & H Wall, Gowangordie, bought four rams to a top of $4000 for lot two of the sale. The same buyer paid $3500 for lot 10.
Myalla Partnership, Nhill, bought eight lots to a top of $3000 on two occasions.
The Tamaleuca stud, Ouyen, paid $4000 for lot 18 a 19.6 micron ram with 3.1 SD, 15.8 CV and 99.3 CF.
Regular buyer R Vearing, Ararat, bought four lots to a top of $3500 on two occasions.
P Locke, Howlong, NSW, paid $4000 for lot one, sired by a grandson of Coddington Poll 5034. The ram had figures of 19 micron, 3.1 SD, 16.3 CV and 99.5 CF.
Another ram to make $4000 was lot 3 bought by Wirrinought, Mininera. The sire measured 19.1 micron, 3.1 SD, 15.1 CV and 99.1 CF.
LBC, RLS & AD Mills, Mincha, bought lot 34 for $4000. The ram had a fleece of 19.1 micron, 2.7 SD, 13.9 CV, 99.8 CF and weighed 129kg.
Lot 32 sold to K & S Durrant, Moama, NSW, for $4000 with figures of 20.3 micron, 3.0 SD, 14.8 CV, 99.5 CF and weight of 125kg.
Agents were Nutrien Ag Solutions, Elders and Arcadian Wool.
