A very good yarding of 1450 cattle at Bega last Friday sold to a very strong market according to Chester and Smith, Bega director Stewart Smith.
"The quality was good throughout," Mr Smith said.
"There was good buying support from Leongatha, Korumburra, Warrigul and Sale in Victoria while restockers from Moss Vale, Wagga Wagga, Forbes and Moruya bid against some local competition."
Prices for steer weaners topped at $1400, with most selling from $1000 to $1300.
18 month-old steers sold to $1700.
Heifer weaners sold from $800 to $1250 with a top of $1250.
Unjoined heifers sold to $1600 when Cath and Shirley Griffin, Bega sold a pen of Angus heifers.
Other sales reported included 10 Angus steer weaners, 10 months old sold for $1400 by Kurt Pongratz, Bega.
Dundindi Estate, Bega sold nine-month Angus steers for $1250 and B and K Brunton, Cobargo sold eight-month Limousin steer weaners for $1220.
They also sold a pen of Limousin heifer weaners, eight months for $1320.
Bega agents Chester and Smith and Pell Rixon conducted the sale.
