On the money - this morning's rain gauge confirms that forecasts earlier in the week have were accurate with good falls of rain recorded.
With rain starting to fall by late afternoon Wednesday some areas have received more than 40mm by 9am this morning.
The best of the falls by this morning were in the north-east and Yarra Valley with one Swanpool landholder measuring 65mm since 3am.
Ruffy measured 41mm, Mansfield picking up 39mm and Yea 27mm.
Wangaratta emptied 28mm from gauges after largely missing the rains on the weekend.
In a stretch through central and north central Victoria Bendigo picked up 16mm, St Arnaud 22 and Donald 22mm.
At Rheola near St Arnaud woolgrower Peter Mason measured nearly 28mm overnight.
He said it was a great follow up after getting about 32mm three weeks ago.
"The earlier rain shot the clover, so I hope it was enough to get it through to this rain and onwards," he said.
"Some paddocks are wet enough to be a bit soft for the truck and we have had a couple of dams fill or at least improve in water levels from this rain."
Many centres that missed out on rains last weekend scored well this time around with Mildura measuring 20mm, Walpeup had 20mm as did Speed while Swan Hill had a welcome 11mm.
Further south Horsham had Nhill had 9mm.
Ballarat missed out on most of the rain last weekend but had 19 this time around while Hamilton did a little better with 21mm.
In Gippsland totals were lower ranging from 5mm at Bairnsdale up to 11 at Leongatha.
