Tasmanian seedstock producer Adam Harvey, Tamaroo Angus, Cygnet, believes the family owned and operated stud has hit the sweet spot, when it comes to bulls, which are in demand.
Tamaroo had a successful sale at the Powranna sale complex, with two of the bulls sold going to Victoria.
Mr Harvey said Pathfinder, Mar and Matarui bloodlines, along with the stud's own bulls, were producing animals, sought by commercial operators.
"The market is chasing those bulls with better growth, more calving ease and higher carcase quality," Mr Harvey said.
"It's a bit of a sign for the future."
He said Tamaroo aimed to produce bulls with a fertile and functional genetic profile, high growth rates and moderate maturity pattern.
The top-selling bull, Tamaroo Genesis P15 SV was by Pathfinder Genesis G357, out of Tamaroo J114.
He was one of three bulls, picked up by Surveyors Pastoral Company.
"Surveyors are long term buyers, purchasing bulls for commercial calf production for pasture finishing and the feedlot sector, " Mr Harvey said.
The August-2018 drop bull had an Estimated Breeding Value profile of +1.9 birthweight, +47 200-day weight, +91 400-day weight and +129 600-day weight.
He recorded a +108 square centimetre eye muscle area, a 6 millimitre rib fat measurement and 7 mm rump fat measurement with an intramuscular fat of a percentage average of 6.5.
Mr Harvey said Pathfinder Genesis was adding softness, high growth rates and a very good temperament to his progeny.
The Cygnet stud joined 150 low maintenance Angus cows.
Tamaroo Genesis also had a great phenotype, with a long body, good rib shape and a soft coat.
A regular at the Yea store market sales, John Drysdale,The Lily, Yarck, bought two bulls at the sale.
He purchased Lot 1, Tamaroo P1 SV for $7000 and Lot 13, Tamaroo P28 SV for $4000.,
The Drysdales are also repeat buyers at Tamaroo.
