Rob and Anna Mulligan of Salway Maternal Composites, were blown away by the success of their second annual sale on Thursday at Walcha.
A high demand for rams pushing four rams to a top price of $1600. The stud offered 51 rams, selling 39 rams for a clearance of 76 percent and an average of $1046.
Three of the four top price rams were secured by Lachie McKenzie, Mckenzie Ag, Tarrenlea Victoria, who has been supplying feed to the Mulligan family, he had been impressed with the phenotype of the rams he had seen and how they had handled the extreme conditions.
Mr Mckenzie purchased six rams in total for a top of $1600 three times and a draft average of $1433, the rams will all be moved to his Victorian property.
Bulk buyer was repeat purchaser Peter Young, Glen Collin pastoral, Sallywood, Walcha who has purchased rams from the family over the last few years. In total, Mr Young purchased 11 rams for a top of $1500 twice and a draft average of $1136 .
The sale was conducted by Nutrien Ag Solutions with Matt Larkings, as auctioneer.
