Ballarat agents will hold four weaner sales in February to showcase some of the best cattle from across central Victoria.
The first sale with joined female cows and calves will take place on February 7 followed by an unjoined heifer sale the following Friday.
On February 21, agents will hold a grown steer and steer weaner sale followed by Landmark's feature sale on February 28.
"Our season has been fantastic," TB White & Sons agent and Ballarat Stock & Station Agents Association president Xavier Bourke said.
"The cattle feed is abundant, the cattle are looking well and we're just lacking a bit of sunshine - but we've recovered after a very tough autumn and tough winter."
Between 3500-4000 cattle are expected to be yarded at the steer weaner sale on February 21 while 2500-3000 heifers are expected to be yarded a week earlier.
"With the cows and calves, there's going to be a good line up of cattle and we hope for rain in the north which will change the confidence of this job quickly," he said.
Elders Ballarat livestock manager Graeme Nicholson said it was too early to confirm his lines of cattle, but indicated he would yard about 2000 cattle across the sales.
"There's no doubt we will have some really good lines of cattle," he said.
He said some cows had already been sold due to the ordinary autumn and winter which could contribute to a drop in numbers particularly at the joined female sale.
"We've had a fantastic spring but we had a poor autumn and winter and that was where the damage was done," Mr Nicholson said.
"We've had to sell cattle off rather than hold them and see the progeny at the February sales so we might see less numbers in some sales."
