Young Stars of Country bring 20th anniversary tour to Albury

The brainchild of their shared booking agent, Felicity Urquhart, Adam Harvey, Beccy Cole and Darren Coggan formed musical bonds and lifelong friendships.

Cole, whose son was one at the time, said the performers gelled from the start.

"It's hard to believe it's been 20 years," she said.

"I had a baby at the time, the others didn't have any kids back then. My son has just reached 21, but back then he had all of them as his babysitters!"

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first Young Stars of Country gig, the performers are touring again now.

They will end their tour on Saturday, December 7, at The Commercial Club in Albury, which featured in the their first tour.

Cole said ending the tour in Albury would bring a great party-vibe to the gig.

"It's really no surprise that the four of us have remained friends for 20 years, those early days of touring hold the fondest of memories," Cole said.

"This reunion is special because not only do we present as four individual enduring artists, but also four dear friends. Get ready for the stories, the secrets and the laughs!"

During 2001, Urquhart, Harvey, Cole and Coggan shared in a Golden Guitar Award win for Vocal Collaboration of the Year with their live version of Dolly Parton's Do I Ever Cross Your Mind.

Early this year Cole won her 11th Golden Guitar Award for Female Artist of the Year.

Cole's son Ricky Albeck is also a performer now.

"I'm really proud of him," she said.

"There was never any push from me for him to be a performer; in the same way there was no push from my mum, but I just wanted to be like her."
