QUAMBY Plains stud principal Victoria Archer has no doubt what drew visitors to her Corriedale ram sale near Launceston, Tas.
"In general, it was the soft, white stylish wool with the mid-micron range is what people were chasing," she said.
"They were still after the good carcase and fertility traits but were rapt that they could find a consistent line of rams that could offer the whole package with quality wool as well."
The Quamby Plains rams ranged from 22 to 25 microns and drew buyers from across Tasmania as well as Victoria and NSW.
The top-priced Lot 1 ram was sold to a Victorian buyer represented by Andrew Calvers of Wool Solutions and had a Maternal Wool Production Plus index score of 154.1.
Mr Calvert said he was impressed with the $5400 ram's soundness, well-nourished wool and good bone.
