Seven southern Merino studs opened their gates today for the Southern Victorian Merino Field Day, giving visitors the opportunity to take a look over the farm gate.
The studs included Boorana, Glenthompson, Coryule, Willowvale, Ioness, Lake Bolac, Mt Challicum, Ballyrogan, Stavely Park, Stavely, Stud Park South, Willaura, and Wurrook, Rokewood.
The studs had their best genetics on display, to entice onlookers to return to some of their on-property ram sales, which fall next week.
Southern Victorian Merino Breeders Association president Pat Millear said the studs in the group were very progressive and were striving to add quality to any Merino flock.
"Fantastic results have already been achieved this year with many studs from the SVMBA having success in the show and sale ring at Bendigo, Ballarat and Hamilton in tough competition," Mr Millear said.
