BUYERS flocked to this year's Mount Yulong Poll Merino sale, paying to a top of $4250.
The Telangatuk East-based stud offered 68 rams, up slightly on 2018, that sold to an average of $2034.
The penning comprised 58 May 2018-drop rams and 10 September 2018-drops.
Stud principal Peter Rogers said it was pleasing to have a good clearance given the increased catalogue.
Mr Rogers said this year they had done away with a mini-auction usually held after the main auction and just increased ram numbers in the main auction instead.
"The rams were the most consistent I have ever put up," he said.
"Repeat clients are happy with what they get and are prepared to pay for them."
Mr Rogers said the wool industry was well-placed while the meat side was as important as the wool.
He said the stud had focused on the shape of their sheep and the "rear end" to make money out of the meat side.
"We're in for exciting times with the combination of wool and meat," he said.
Buyer of the top-priced ram was Peter Remfry, Willaura, who paid $4250 for Lot 28.
The ram's fleece measured 20.6 micron, 3.4 standard deviation, 16.7 co-efficient of variation and 98.8 per cent comfort factor.
The same buyer paid $3750 for the opening ram of the sale.
Volume buyer was repeat clients WD, RG & NW Robinson, Edenhope, who regularly put together a large draft of rams and this year paid up to $3500 on one ram and $3250 on another.
The $3500 ram was Lot 12 with a 18-micron fleece and an SD of 2.8, CV of 14.7 and a CF of 99.8pc.
