DERBY Downs Poll Dorset stud triumphed with a strong clearance of rams at a much improved average at its 2019 on-property sale.
The sale, run by Paul Brown and Don McKinnon, saw the offering of 10 stud rams and 61 flock rams sell to a top of $2600.
Buyer of the top ram, Lot 15, was N Turnbull, through Ellis Nuttall, Bendigo.
The ram, sired by Derby Downs 282/14, had figures of 133 kilograms liveweight, a fat depth of 9 millimetres and eye muscle area of 43.62 square centimetres.
The same buyer paid $2200 for Lot 17, by the same sire, and had figures of 120kg lw, 12mm fat and 38.11 EMA.
Next best price was $2300 for a ram by Derby Downs 421/16, bought by R & L Sanders, Werneth, through Landmark Ballarat.
It had figures of 125kg lw, 9mm fat, and 40.84 EMA.
The same buyer paid $1900 for a second stud ram.
Flock rams sold to $1800 with the top lot bought by JD & KJ Steel, Newbridge, through Elders Bendigo.
Ambelside Pastoral, Foxlow, through TB White & Sons, bought five ewes, paying to $600, average $480.
Pine Creek Poll Dorset stud, Canowindra, NSW, bought one ewe for $450.
A volume buyer was Randall Park, Hamilton, who paid up to $1700 each for four rams, av $1680.
Crowden Weeks, Serpentine, took home nine rams paying to $1500 on two occasions.
