*70 of 74 rams sold to $3250 (three times), av $1850
THE Koonik Dohne stud of Fiona Cameron, Nurcoung, held an extremely successful on-property sale when 70 rams averaged $1850.
Koonik offered 74 rams and secured a clearance rate under the hammer of more than 94 per cent.
The sale top of $3250 was achieved on three rams.
The first was Lot 22, a July 2018-drop ram with figures of 6.6 yearling weight, 0.5 eye muscle depth and a yearling clean fleece weight of 15.9, in the top 10pc of the breed.
The buyer was Adrian Drum, Drumdale, Banyena.
The same purchaser bought two other rams with a total average of $2083.
Lot 58 achieved the equal top price and was bought by Linda Taylor and Tony Wheat of Carrs Plains Pastoral, Callawadda.
The ram had figures of 9.1 for YWT and 20 for YCFW, both in the top 10pc for the breed.
The same buyer bought three rams paying $3000 for Lot 14 and $2250 for Lot 28.
Lot 14 had figures of 5.2 YWT and 10.1 YCFW, while Lot 28 recorded a YWT 3.2 and YCFW of 11.9.
Lots 22 and 58 were both sired by Koonik 1915.
This sire was the reserve champion Victorian Dohne at the 2019 Australian Sheep & Wool Show (ASWS).
The ram was also part of the champion pairs and pen of three at the 2018 ASWS.
Brad Blackwood, Nhill, also paid $3250 for Lot 68, a June 2018-drop ram, with an 8.5 YWT and a catalogue-topping YCFW of 21.4.
Mr Blackwood bought a total of six rams at an average of $1775.
Among the volume buyers was Sunnyside Partnership, Clear Lake, who paid up to $3000 for two lots and whose draft of eight rams averaged $2313.
Seven rams went to Barmack Pastoral, Callawadda, to a top of $2750 and average of $1371.
Ms Cameron said the catalogue was the most even line-up she had presented in the nine years the on-property sale had been held.
"The rams were well-balanced with good figures and some of the best wools we have presented," she said.
She said the buyers of the top three lots were looking for rams with high yearling weight and high clean fleece weight figures and positive eye muscle depth figures.
The three buyers were long-time regular buyers of Koonik genetics.
There were 24 repeat buyers and three new clients who bought rams.
