THREE rams sold to a $6000 top at the annual One Oak Poll on-property ram sale held last Friday at Jerilderie, where buyers flocked from Victoria, NSW and Queensland to purchase.
Alistair and Natasha Wells sold 101 rams of the 110 on offer for a 92 per cent clearance and $2069 average.
Embryo transfer (ET) bred rams sired by Wallaloo Park 422 out of a One Oak Poll elite stud ewe where the highly sought after three rams that topped the sale.
The first to hit the $6000 sale-top was tag 17055 purchased by Mark and Helen Hoskinson, Fernleigh, Kikoira. He measured 17.8 in the micron, 3.0 standard deviation (SD), 16.9pc coefficient of variation (CV) and 99.9pc comfort factor (CF).
The Hoskinsons, who run a self-replacing flock and shear twice a year, said they are always trying to improve the style of their sheep.
"The ram we bought brings the genetics we are seeking. Alistair and Natasha are always looking to make their own improvements as well as making our decisions easier," they said.
Tag 17077 sold for $6000 to David and Rozie Kennett, Jerilderie. He was 18.7 in the micron with a 3.2 SD, 17.2pc CV and 99.6pc CF.
The Kennetts also purchased a second ram for $3500.
The third ram to make $6000 was tag 17048 snapped up by Eulo Pastoral Company, Harden. This ram tested 19.6 micron with a 2.8 SD, 14.3pc CV and 100pc CF.
Eulo Pastoral Company also purchased a second ram for $4500.
Narada Grazing Company, Tambo Qld, purchased three rams to a top of $5250 and average of $3833, while the Browning family, Ivyhome, Jerilderie purchased five to a top price of $4250 and average of $2700.
Large volume buyers of the sale were JW. and J. Caldwell, who bought 11 rams for an average of $2250, and Rairong, Gundagai, purchased 13 rams for an average of $1673.
Other multiple purchasers at the sale were Carruthers and Sons, Millbanks, Tullibigeal, taking home eight rams, averaging $1625 and the Worland Bros, Bingarra, Tullibigeal, also purchaed eight rams for an average $1562.
Victorian buyers, the Malones from Gredgwinridge, Boort, purchased six rams for an average of $1708 while the Boyd's from Mitiamo, took home six rams for an average of $1541.
Robert Smith Nominees, Berrigan, bought five rams for an average of $1900.
