A large crowd attended the latest Swan Hill store sheep sale with a yarding of around 22,000.
BR&C auctioneer John Sawyer said numbers were back a bit compared with 2018 with the lambs coming forward.
He said the quality was "very good" considering the season.
"We've had enough rain to get vetch crops growing and these lambs have been on that," he said.
"The top end was a bit heavier than last year and it didn't tail off much at all."
Mr Sawyer said Merino ewes were solid all the way through.
"Everyone wanted a few and it didn't taper off at all," he said.
"Fletchers were very strong on the heavy end of the ewes bidding up to $200."
Younger ewes sold well at $230 to $265.
The Merino wether lambs sold "exceptionally well" making $120 to $140, he said.
"Very solid that job. It was a very solid day and there's obviously a lot of confidence in the job," he said.
"Our sales have come and gone and we haven't got a lot of numbers left.
"We'll have one more in four or five weeks but it won't be as big."
The sale started with the yarding of wether lambs that sold in a range between $140 to $163.
The principal buyers were local feedlots and processors.
Of the Merino ewes a draft from the Gray family's Larnoo Pastoral Co, Moulamein, NSW, comprised 237, April/May 2018 drop, Boonoke blood, July shorn, topped the sale at $265.
The same vendor had a pen of 164 Merino ewes, April/May 2016 drop, July shorn, that sold for $202.
Woolmark, Tin Tin, Balranald, NSW, sold 311 Merino ewes, May/June 18 drop, Keri Keri blood, August shorn, that sold for $226.
I & K Gibson, Billamein, Moulamein, NSW, sold a line of 359 Merino ewes, June/July 2018 drop, September shorn, Caroonboon blood, Billamein bred, that sold for $220.
RC Ellis, Pental Island, sold 180 May/June 2016/2017 drop ewes, March shorn, that made $215.
TA & AM Gorman, Willow Vale, Balranald, NSW, consigned a line of 357 April/May 2014 drop Merino ewes, March shorn, Alma blood, that sold for $206.
Among the offering from Charmel, Cunninyeuk, was a pen of 258 Merino ewes, May/June 2014 drop, September shorn, that made $202.
Best of the Merino wether lambs was forwarded account Condoulpe Pastoral, Balranald, NSW. These were April/May 2019 drop, August shorn, Wallaloo blood, that sold for $147.
A line of 580 Merino wether lambs account Noorong Pastoral Co, Noorong, May/June 2019 drop, unshorn, Leacim blood, sold for $143.
Woolmark sold 325 May/June 2019 wether lambs, unshorn, that made $142.
