*50 of 68 rams sold to $3400, av $1295
A POLLED ram topped Kerrilyn Merino and Poll Merino stud's annual on-property sale at Dunluce on Friday selling for $3400.
Vendors Norm and Kerri Weir offered 68 rams which attracted a good crowd of mainly existing clients.
Twenty-four separate buyers made purchases with a clearance rate of 72 per cent achieved.
The top-priced ram at $3400 was paid for Lot 4, a polled ram by an Oak Bank sire that was champion ram at Hay, NSW, in 2017.
Buyer was regular client Mark Anderson, Moora-Glen Partners, Ullina.
The ram had a 19.1-micron fleece, standard deviation of 3.3, co-efficient of variation of 17.1 and comfort factor of 99.10 per cent.
The ram also had a clean fleece weight of 119pc.
Mr Weir said buyers were selective and those sought after rams sold "at the money".
"Buyers were prepared to pay for what they wanted," he said.
C & T Eastick, Ararat, bought four rams to a top of $2700 for Lot 28.
The ram was a polled sired by a White River ram that was champion hogget ram of Australia at Hay in 2017.
Another White River-sired ram at Lot 2 was bought for $2600 by WH & EI & NW Eunton, Bendigo.
The ram had figures of 21.7 micron, SD 3.4, CV of 15.70, CF of 98.3pc and CFW of 118pc.
The same buyer paid $2300 for a ram with a CFW of 124pc, micron of 21, 3.2 SD, 15.3 CV and CF of 99.1pc.
Lot 7 also made $2600 going to J Baker.
The polled ram showed figures of 21.3 micron, SD 4, CV 18.8, CF of 96.2pc and CFW of 115pc.
DG & RW Lummis paid $2100 for Lot 17, a polled ram by a Lewisdale sire, that had 21.7-micron fleece, with SD of 3.1, and CV of 14.7.
Dale Fraser, trading as DG & GM Fraser, Natte Yallock, bought three rams to a top of $1900, averaging $1633.
Mr Fraser said he had been buying at Kerrilyn for 15 years, finding them locally-bred sheep that did well on his nearby country.
Mr Weir said a new client bought two rams privately after the auction.
The two Merino rams were the first Merinos the buyer had purchased in more than 60 years.
The sale was conducted by Elders.
