Dairy Australia has announced the three board nominees standing for election at its 2019 AGM to be held in November.

There are three vacancies this year for directors, who must demonstrate they have either with finance and governance; milk producer; or research and development skills.

Josephine Rozman is standing for election for the first time and has been nominated for the finance and governance position.

She is an experienced company director with strong finance, risk and accounting skills gained through executive and board roles at Elders Limited, Wine Australia Corporation and AustOn Corporation (a subsidiary of Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan) which actively invests in agricultural sectors in Australia.

Jeff Odgers has been nominated to fill the milk producer position and has served two terms as a director and is the current chair.

Jeff owns an expanding dairy farming business and is currently a non-executive director of Bega Cheese Ltd.

Professor Paul Wood AO has been nominated for the research and development position and is standing for election for a second term.

He has over thirty years' experience in agricultural R&D and is internationally recognised for his work in veterinary immunology and vaccine development and as an inventor of several patents.

Jan West is not restanding for election.

To be successfully elected into the vacant director roles, each of the three nominees will require more than 50 per cent of the votes cast at the annual general meeting.

Applicants who wish to nominate separately to the board selection committee process can submit their nomination in writing, supported by signatures from at least 100 Group A members of Dairy Australia.

Nominations must be received by Dairy Australia by 5.00pm on Friday 30 August 2019.

DairyNZ researcher and agricultural economist Mark Neal, whose family farms in NSW, is phone-canvassing farmers in a bid to secure 100 DA member signatures after his application was rejected by the board selection committee.
