Individual and group honours went the way of the Jackson family's Jackson Farming and Two Dot Station studs in the Border Leicester ring at Sheepvention.
The Moyston-based Jackson Farming stud of David and Carol Jackson showed the champion and junior ram this year.
The Jackson ram was selected by judge Martin Harvey, Bordertown, SA, over a ram from the Leonella stud, Winchelsea.
The champion ewe was entered under Two Dot Station the stud operated by Ross and Lydia Jackson, Moyston.
Carol Jackson said the champion ewe was actually bred and prepared by 12-year-old Lane Jackson.
She said Lane had been "most excited" with the win by "his ewe".
"Lane has been enthusiastic about the rearing and training the ewe," she said.
"It gives him some encouragement to continue the work."
The reserve ram was shown by Jamie Buerckner, Bauer stud, Ariah Park, NSW.
Mrs Jackson said the champion ram was a 2018 drop ram sired by Two Dot Hurricane. The winning ram weighed in at 100 kilograms, had a fat measurement of 10mm and eye muscle depth of 43mm.
The ram was junior and reserve champion ram at the Australian Sheep & Wool Show this year at its first show appearance.
"We thought he was a good ram, but shows are always a bit of an unknown," Mrs Jackson said.
"The ram will probably be sold at our on-property sale or at the Horsham auction."
The junior champion ram came from Bauer while the reserve was from Leonella.
The Bauer stud topped a successful show with a broad ribbon for its junior ewe while the Glenlee Park stud of Will Schilling, Dimboola.
