A new Bendigo saleyards record has been set for extra heavyweight export lambs, up to 38 kilograms carcase weight.
Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) said a new saleyard record was set at $336 a head.
The price followed recent sales of $344 at Ballarat.
On June 17, Corowa, NSW, set a national record of $350 for a pen of 40 lambs, sold by Garry Mickan, Walla Walla, NSW.
That was broken in Wagga Wagga, NSW, on June 20, when a pen of lambs sold for 354.20 on June 20.
MLA said supply at Bendigo continued to tighten as lamb numbers eased below 10,000 for the first time this winter, with just 2340 head yarded.
There was a reasonable selection of supplementary-finished lambs alongside plainer and mixed stock, showing the effects of the season.
Competition for the best processor lambs remained robust, with prices firm to a few dollars dearer across the lead pens of heavy and trade lambs.
Small and lightweight Merino lambs were up to $10 dearer amid limited supplies of MK processing stock under 17 kilograms carcase weight.
