A severe weather warning and sheep graziers alert have been issue for damaging winds and heavy rain across large parts of the state tomorrow.
Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Dean Stewart, said a rain band would begin impacting the state from early Wednesday morning, bringing widespread rainfall.
He said thunderstorms with heavy rain which might lead to flash flooding were possible early Wednesday morning with the highest chance in the southern Mallee and Wimmera.
Mr Stewart said that the rain band would bring the heaviest falls to areas just north of the divide where totals might reach 25 to 35 millimetres.
He said the totals would taper off towards the northern borders
Southern areas could receive 10 to 20mm while falls in East Gippsland were expected to be less than 5mm.
The cold front would also see damaging winds, particularly in elevated areas, Mr Stewart said.
Winds could peak at 120kph over Alpine areas and at 90 to 100 in central and west Victorian around the hills and as far as the Grampians.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AEST on Tuesday.
