Supply and demand continued to rule at the Ballarat sheep and lamb market on Tuesday.
Associated agents yarded 21,420 lambs and 10,000 sheep.
After setting a new record for Ballarat the previous week at $300 a head for extra heavy lambs, two pens reached the $300 mark this week.
Andy Maher's lambs from Dean again reached $300 while a big draft of lambs out of Loxton, South Australia, also sold for $300.
TB White & Sons director Gerard White said prices were "very strong".
"The yarding was outstanding for weight and quality," Mr White said.
"It's a credit to the vendors. There will be good drafts to come, but each week from now we'll see farmers who will finish their sales."
Mr White said the result was even better given two major exporters did not operate on the day.
Landmark auctioneer Xavier Shanahan said the Loxton lambs that made equal top of $300 were quality lambs from a feedlot-style operation.
He said numbers would slow to a trickle in the next few weeks.
Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) data shows that this week's lamb indicator for 22-24 kilogram lambs averaged 873c/kg.
At the same sale in 2018 the indicator was at 600c/kg, bottoming out on October 9 at 544c/kg before trending higher since the low point.
The MLA Livestock Market Reporting Service quoted heavy and extra heavy lambs as dearer with most making $5 to $15/head up on the previous week.
Medium trade weights made from $192-$228.
Feeders and restockers paid from $102-$170.
