Other than a shower or two on Friday, the mild, dry weather will persist until a low-pressure system brings cooler conditions with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting falls of less than 5mm on Sunday.
The forecast run of eight consecutive days of 20 degrees or more in Melbourne has only been recorded five times before, most recently in 2014.
