Money for fuel and the purchase of fencing materials for use in the northern Queensland flood affected areas were key outcomes from a recent fund raising drive.
A Northern Queensland Flood Aid Charity Brahman semen auction instigated by the Australian Brahman Breeders Association raised a total of $115,820.
With an additional $5000 donated by ABBA, the total was split three ways with volunteer-based disaster recovery organisation BlazeAid receiving $40,276.
BlazeAid founders Kevin and Rhonda Butler, Kilmore, accepted the cheque in Rockhampton, Queensland, on Wednesday presented by ABBA president Matthew McCamley.
Mr Butler said the money would be used to pay for transport of railway line donated by Queensland Rail plus used core drill rod from the mines to graziers at Richmond, Cloncurry and Julia Creek.
He said the materials were needed for strainer post assemblies and in construciton of cattle yards. The metal posts fill in for a shortage of gidgee timber posts.
Funds were also going towards the BlazeAid $3000 per grazier Post and Wire Voucher.
Mr Butler said most graziers were going with four barb wires and 180 centimetre Waratah steel posts at about 10-metre spacings.
The auction saw 92 lots of semen from various breeders donated and sold on-line.
Buyers came from across Queensland and NSW as well as Victoria.
Much of the semen was from top quality sires with the top lot making $620 a straw.
The other two charities which also received $40,276 were the Queensland Country Womens Association and Sisters of the North.
