A new record was set for the sale of a bull in Tasmania at Landfall Angus' on-property auction on Monday.

The Launceston, Tas-based stud sold Lot 3 for $75,000, more than doubling its own bull sale record of $37,000, achieved last year.
It is the highest price a bull has sold for on record in Tasmania.
Witnessing the sale was an overflowing crowd of local and mainland buyers.
Travelling from Victoria, NSW, South Australia, Flinders Island and King Island, new and repeat buyers bid spiritedly to secure the bulls on offer.
The Lot 3 stud sire prospect, Landfall New Ground N90', a son of USA 17262835 VAR Discovery 2240, was purchased by Bill Cornell, ABS Australia, Camperdown, Victoria, in partnership with an undisclosed members syndicate, including Anthony Pisa, Absolute Angus, Thorpedale.
The second top-priced bull made $34,000, also surpassing last year's record, and was purchased by the Blyth brothers, Fernleigh Angus, Elmbank.
A prelude to the main event, on Sunday, selected pregnancy-tested-in-calf females drew strong interest from interstate buyers, with three top-priced females sold for $6500 each, with all headed to the mainland.
Lot 3 was bid successfully on behalf of the Chalker family, Yallambee Angus, Berrima, NSW, by Tim Woodham, Landmark Wagga Wagga, NSW, via AuctionsPlus.
Lot 20 and 21 went to Sam King, Bowmont stud, Tatyoon, who liked their "moderate frames, complete EBVs and structural soundness".
"We have been using Landfall genetics for at least five years and like the commercial relevance they place on their breeding program," Mr King said.
The sale was conducted by Roberts Livestock and interfaced with AuctionsPlus.
