Holiday-makers are warned to steer clear of camping grounds in Wilsons Promontory National Park ahead of the long weekend as fires burn across the state.
The park will remain closed until further notice as Forest Fire Management Victoria works to suppress a fire in inaccessible terrain.
The news comes as weather conditions later in the week are expected to both help and hinder fire-fighting efforts.
Cooler temperatures are expected to bring welcome relief, but a severe thunderstorm warning could bring flash flooding and dry lightning.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for East Gippsland and North East districts on Monday night, and is expected to provide some much-needed relief for firefighters battling the blaze in Dargo.
But those battling the Bunyip fire may not see any relief until early on Wednesday morning, with the cool change predicted to arrive then.
At least two homes, and nine structures in total, have been destroyed by the latest round of devastating bushfires, with the CFA saying they expect the official number to rise over the next few days.
There are six Watch and Act warnings in place across the state covering more than 50 towns.
Residents living in those areas were warned that leaving is the safest option.
More than 2000 firefighters are battling blazes across the state alongside 71 aircraft and help from NSW.
