The eighth annual Gemini White Suffolk stud's summer ram sale saw 60 rams sell to a top of $2400 on a clearance rate of 70 per cent.

The top price was paid for lot 18 a June 2018 drop ram with figures of 0.12 kilograms for birthweight, 10.2kg weaning weight and eye muscle depth of 2.5 millimetres.

The buyer was LW and JC Ferguson, Hopetoun, who are regular purchasers at Gemini.

Second top price of $2300 was achieved for lot 9 that had figures of 0.12kg BWT, 9.6kg WWTand 3.1mm EMD.

Gemini stud principal Craig Mitchell said the ram was the nominated Royal Childrens Hospital Good Friday appeal donation with 100 per cent of the sale price going to the appeal.

The buyer was W Peck, South Australia.

Meek Farming, Shelford, bought two rams at $1800 each while N Lubke, Winchelsea, paid $1600 for another.

Volume buyers included Reedy Creek, Pty Ltd, Wickliffe, with 11 rams to a top of $1050, FA Read Pty Ltd, Carranballac, who bought 10 rams to a top of $1100 and Bungeel Tap, Mount Macedon, purchased six rams to a top of $1700.

Mr Mitchell said the dry season in most of the region had affected the average and clearance which were both down on the sale last year.

"I was very happy with the result given the season," he said.
