Lamb, mutton and slaughter cattle indicators turned green this week as supplies tightened on the back last week's easier trends.
Making the largest gain were lamb values. These returned to carry averages leading with the figure seven while mutton prices jumped 15 per cent to ave 424c/kg.
Behind this surge was a strong 25-35pc slashing of the saleyards supply and a 10-18 percent increase in the Victorian and NSW lamb slaughter.
An easing in the cattle supply was also a triumph for cattle prices. With numbers reduced, bullock, cow and trade steer prices were firmer however softer feeder and young cattle prices were amplified by a 12 point in the benchmark indicator to a four year low.
