AS TEMPERATURES at the Wodonga saleyards climb towards 44 degrees Celsius the bidding was fast and competitive during the second day of the annual Wodonga weaner sales.
Agents from Brian Unthank Rural, Peter Ruaro Rodwells and Schubert Boers offered a quality yarding of 3019 black weaners, most aged between eight and 11 months.
In a similar trend to yesterday’s sale at Wodonga, the steers and heifers may have been lighter than past years due to the tough season in some districts, but that didn’t seem to deter buyers.
The best presented pen was sold early in the sale and this was awarded to the Adams family, “Mill Park”, Staghorn Flat, Victoria, for a pen of 376 kilogram steers.
Under strong buyer competition the pen sold for $1135 a head.
