Seven of Victoria’s young dairy leaders have been selected to participate in the 2019 New Zealand Study Tour in February.
The eight-day NZ Study Tour organised by the United Dairyfarmers of Victoria and funded by the Gardiner Dairy Foundation. provides successful applicants with development opportunities to engage and learn from representatives of the Federated Farmers of NZ.
The tour also includes visits to farms, processing companies, research and extension facilities and networking with farmer groups.
The successful applicants for 2019 the NZ Study Tour are: Amabel Grinter, Muckatah, Danielle Walker, Panmure, Leica Manners, Denison, Majella Ryan, Grassmere, Rachael McGrath, Orford, Thomas Ryan, Birregurra and Thomas Stuart, Dixie
Chief Executive Officer of the Gardiner Dairy Foundation, Dr Clive Noble, said this year’s successful applicants demonstrated great enthusiasm for growth and development in the dairy industry, both personally and collectively.
“We are thrilled to support the development of future dairy industry leaders through the NZ Study Tour program. By fostering their development, we hope to see them all have bright careers and contribute to a strong dairy industry in the future,” Dr Noble said.
The program, now in its ninth year, integrates Australian farmers into a global dairy network.
Successful 2019 candidate, Rachael McGrath from Orford, found out about the NZ Study Tour through a friend.
“I am delighted to be selected for the 2019 NZ Study Tour,” she said.
“I envisage many new opportunities will come from the program experience, travelling with other young dairy farmers and meeting people from all parts of the NZ industry.
“I have no doubt it will help to broaden my horizons in the dairy industry. I’m looking forward to learning more about improving our farm operations, and understanding the industry through the networks we develop,” Ms McGrath said.
