Pakenham Show Hoof and Hook

Quality entries at the Pakenham Show Hoof and Hook

Jack Nelson judges the on hoof section of Pakenham Hoof and Hook

AN EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT for Paul Carney was winning the Grand Champion award for his steer, which also was 1st in its class of 380 to 420 kilograms liveweight.

Guest Judge, Jack Nelson from Shepparton, who, despite his young age, has shown and judged several cattle, and competitions, spent time saying why he had, or had not made his selections.

Judging three classes, which ranged between 280 and 420kgs, Jack Nelson selected a Limousin heifer of B&L Seebeck in 1st place of the light class.

The Pakenham Show Hoof and Hook competition has been running for several years now, and has become a great learning curve for many producers over that time.

This has seen a big improvement in the quality of the cattle selected for judging, which this year, was last Saturday night, held at the VLE Pakenham.

Competitors, onlookers, staff and the judge, enjoyed a great two course meal prior to the judging, in the VLE’s canteen.

In the 280 to 320kg class, Jack Nelson awarded 1st place to Ian Anderson.

Radford’s of Warragul will host the Carcass Competition, tomorrow, Tuesday.
