Lamb supply rose sharply this week with the introduction of a second weekly market at Hamilton that will be continued from the next four weeks until Christmas.
Lifting the overall supply by 50 per cent prices were adjusted down by 20 to 40c/kg while small increase in the mutton supply saw rates being little changed.
For cattle, the principal indicators were again on the softer of firm as supplies remained steady except for cows where numbers jumped by 10 per cent. But with northern competition creeping further into the north of the state the increase was absorbed with little changed to market values.
Over the hooks rates were firm for export cattle and seven cents lower for young cattle at the major works.
