Uninterrupted markets have coped well with a small influx of numbers.

With a return to an uninterrupted working week following the long weekend, supply-driven markets generally coped well with a small influx of numbers.

In the lamb pens, supplies across the state rose 17 per cent, but prices held firm, whereas mutton firmed by $2-4 a head on the back of 13pc fewer numbers.

Supply and demand factors for young cattle were estranged as both headed south for the week.

The movement in supply was 16pc lower, while prices eased 8-10 cents a kilogram carcase weight, which was a similar fall for bullocks but supplies of these heavier cattle rose by 15pc.

The demand for cows was stronger but again the move-up was at odds as supplies rose by 15pc, with the softer dollar a possible factor.
