*57 of 80 rams sold to $3750, av $1135
A strong local group of prospective buyers buoyed the well-attended Forest Springs Merino stud’s on-property ram sale, and presented great value buying for the discerning crowd.
A total of 80 rams were offered, with 57 cleared to an average of $1135.
Stud principal Bruce Dean said he increased the total offering of rams by 20 rams on last year, and was happy with the result.
Speaking after the sale, Mr Dean said the recent warmer conditions over the past three weeks saw buyers become a lot more selective.
The top-priced Merino ram achieved a high of $3750, and was well bought by local producers, Don and Sharyn Erwin, Emu.
The ram weighed 98 kilograms, and its fleece measured 18.7 micron, with a 15.8 coefficient of variation, and 3.0 standard deviation.
