IRELANDS Angus recorded a $32,000 sale top during their Spring On-Property Bull Sale at Ivydell, Kyeamba, last Friday.
Corey and Prue Ireland sold a total of 31 bulls for an average of $6296.
Irelands Neptune N12 (AI) (ET) was the upcoming sire that created spirited bidding among the crowd of buyers at the sale, with return clients, Holstons Pastoral Company from Buchan, Victoria, securing the bull for the top price of $32,000.
Sired by the United Kingdom sire Rawburn Boss Hogg N630 from Vermont Edwina D423, the 17-month-old upcoming sire weighed in at 700 kilograms and measured 40 centimetres in the scrotal circumference with an eye muscle area (EMA) of 107 cm squared, fat scans of five millimetres in both the rump and rib and an intramuscular fat (IMF) of 6.9 per cent.
Running 150 Angus breeders, Peter August and Andrew Battersby from Holstons Pastoral, said it was a combination of both genetics and visual characteristics that made him tick all the boxes.
“He is well muscled, has great feet and legs, a good jaw and good testicular development. He had everything we were looking for,” they said.
The second top price of $8500 was set by Irelands Mark Up M402 purchased by Bill Moncrieff, Wagga Wagga.
Mark Up M402 was sired by Irelands Galaxy G43 from Irelands Wargoona H344 and weighed 804kg at 20 months. It measured 42cm in the scrotum and recorded an EMA of 110cm sq, an IMF of 6.3pc and scans of 5mm in both rump and rib fats.
Repeat buyers Bill and Bub Kelly, Abaluk, Alexandra, Vic, bought two bulls for an average of $6500, including Irelands Nelson N31, a full sibling to the $32,000 sale topper.
The largest volume buyer was R. Marsolino from Kialla, Vic, who put together a line up of 10 bulls for an average of $4150.
J. and G. MacDougall, Tooma, purchased three bulls and averaged $7333.
Landmark settled the sale with agents Kevin Norris and Peter Godbolt sharing the auctioneering duties throughout the day.
