A collaboration between Rotary Clubs has seen 100 bales of hay donated to East Gippsland farmers experiencing drought.
The day after celebrating its 80-year anniversary, the Rotary Club of Bairnsdale was contacted by the Rotary Club of Lilydale, to say it had received a donation of $10,000 to assist farmers in the the Bairnsdale area.
The group liaised with Gippsland Farmers Relief, and identified 10 farmers in need of feed.
The Club acquired 100 bales, and was able to deliver it to the community free of charge.
Other donations from members of the Rotary Club and private donors are now being used to supply vouchers to farmers in the Buchan area.

The Rotary Club of Orbost has recently supported the introduction of a new community group, Standing by Farmers, which aims to help farmers in need.
The Rotary Club of Bairnsdale secretary Gillian Reeve said there has been a lot of attention given to farmers struggling in Queensland and New South Wales, but not so much Victoria.
“Although the paddocks look green, there is no substance to the growth, and the outlook is not promising,” Ms Reeve said.
She said funds are still needed.
“This will be an ongoing project of Rotary until the hard times have passed, so any help would be gratefully received,” she said.
She wished to thank local businesses for their support, Willaton Transport, Gippsland Truck Centre, Grinters Transport, Dyers Transport, Elders, Donalda Motors, and Bairnsdale farmer Trevor Caithness.
