Judge Ian Baker, “Clydebank”, Sale, Victoria complimented all exhibitors for the quality of their Hampshire Downs paraded before him.
“They are all truly representative of the breed showing excellent muscling and conformation characteristics,” he said.
The champion ram was exhibited by Mathew Hill, Aurora Park stud, St Helens Plains, which had been successful in the under one and half year class.
“He is a very good ram,” judge Ian Baker said.
“He is worthy of the championship and the breed, well finished with a strong topline and a very sirey head.”
Reserve ram championship was awarded to the young ram exhibited by Kane Hildred and Bridget Leahy, Boonong Park stud, Langwarrin.
The ewe championship was awarded to the Boonong Park stud for their entry which had graduated from the pair of ewes class.
“She presented herself well, parades beautifully, walked well with a nice neck extension, good barrell and underline,” were judge Ian Baker’s comments.
It was the first showing for the ewe, and her dam has been heritage ewe exhibit at the Berwick Show for the past two years.
The reserve ewe championship was awarded to Aurora Park, St Helens Plains.
The breed group was won by Boonong Park.
